At Hara Partners, we have a lot of awesome events. You may already be familiar with our New York eCommerce Meetup… But we have a lot of other awesome events around the city.
You can read all about how Malcolm Gladwell spoke at Magento Imagine 2014 below. We’re also really active in Netsuite’s Suiteworld conference and the Magento conference.
What else? Well, we also have these awesome one-off events where a company like DBG Talent & Model Management will commission us for a model shoot. It shows that nerds do like to party sometimes.
If you ever want to be a part of our awesome events or photoshoots, you can always sign up for our New York eCommerce Meetup. Or if you have anything else in mind, you can contact us with your prepositions.
At Hara Partners, we’re always eager to get together to meet other geniuses to see what’s on their minds. It’s always great to be a genius and know your technical stuff, but what’s the point if you can’t share it with the world? Our eCommerce Meet-Up is the best in New York City, but we’re always ready to join other events as well.
Tech events are uber fun, and we’ve met some really great and talented people at them… Some of our past speakers include Dave McLaughlin, who founded Vsnap, and Mauricio Rubio from Dr. Jays. But remember, that our events would never be as awesome as they are if we didn’t have tech aficionados such as you guys to come by and see them. Yes, we owe a lot to our fans… And not just fans, but anybody with an even passing interest in tech, who come to our events and—for better or worse—become converted into one of us.

February 11, 2011 – Internet Retailer’s Senior Editor – Allison Enright writes:(visit Internet Retailer’s original article or Magento’s news release)EBay Inc. revealed yesterday that it owns a 49% stake in Magento Inc., an e-commerce platform provider that focuses on small to mid-sized e-retailers. The online marketplace made the $22.5 million investment in March, but Magento’s filings at the time with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission did not reveal the investor.EBay Inc. chief technology officer Mark Carges noted the investment in the nearly 4-year-old company during a meeting Thursday with investment analysts. He said the investment helps eBay position itself as a resource for e-retailers, whether they conduct business on eBay.com or elsewhere. “Combined with the power of our platform innovations, we can offer retailers an unmatched advantage as an e-commerce partner,” Carges said. “We view our platform assets as enablers, not just for our business but for other retailers.”Magento controls the remaining 51% of the company, says Magento co-founder and CEO Roy Rubin. The technology provider does not plan to seek further investment. “We have enough working capital to pursue what we are doing and execute on our mission,” he tells Internet Retailer.Rubin says eBay’s investment in Magento wasn’t formally announced last year because neither party thought it was necessary to do so as Magento’s operations would remain mostly independent from eBay. “I think it was more that we wanted to control our own destiny,” Rubin says. “EBay is comfortable standing at our sidelines and watching us grow.”
Rubin characterizes eBay’s involvement with Magento during the last year as “very hands-off” and doesn’t foresee that changing. “What they see in Magento is a passion for innovation,” he adds. “They are careful about getting too far inside and exerting influence that is inorganic to what we’re doing.”
Magento integrates PayPal, eBay’s payment services unit, into its open-source e-commerce platforms as a payment option for online retailers. It is one of multiple forms of payment that e-retailers can choose to accept within the Magento framework, and Rubin says that eBay’s stake in the company will not change that. None of Magento’s e-commerce platforms currently integrate with eBay’s marketplace.
The investment revelation came on the heels of Magento’s own announcement earlier this week that it will release Magento Go, an open-source e-commerce platform aimed at very small e-retailers that are just getting started with e-commerce. Magento Go is the company’s first cloud-based e-commerce platform, meaning it is hosted online, and will be available to e-retailers at the end of this month. Service plan pricing is based on the number of products listed, traffic volume and required bandwidth, and starts at $15 a month.
Rubin says the Go platform, like the rest of its products, does not come with a built-in integration to sell on eBay.com. Magento’s deployed e-commerce platform products, which e-retailers install and operate using their own networks, range from free to starting prices of just less than $13,000 per year.
Two Internet Retailer Top 500 retailers say they use Magento technology. Tool King LLC, No. 331 in the Top 500 Guide, has been a Magento client since 2009. CoffeeForLess.com, No. 444, also uses the technology provider.
SAINT WOBIL‘s Spring and Fall 2011 collections balance an eccentric lifestyle with eloquence and prestige. Darius Wobil, designer and CEO and Chris Watkis, brand manager, placed their trust in HARA Partners to design and produce their lookbooks for their trendsetting lines.

March 11, 2011 was the date Apple released its follow up to the hyper-popular iPad. Here’s a little story about HARA Partners’ Richu Leong who bought his iPad 2:
Richu is a tech at heart and over the years, he has steadily moved from Blackberrys and PCs to iPhones and now the iPad (but he still works on a PC – which is acceptable as he is a hard-core programmer). And on March 11, 2011, Richu and Sam bought the new iPad 2 ‘online’! Well actually, they waited on a line for hours, through snow storms, flying locusts, and annoying mimes in imaginary boxes asking for real money.
OK, moral of the story is… Don’t balance iPads on top of your head and as soon as you get your Granny Smith Apple green cover… PUT IT ON!
SHAE New York is a luxury womens apparel line that houses some of the most beautiful tops and scarves in the world. From casting and negotiations to shoot day and retouching for final files, Hara Partners made everything possible for our wonderful friends at SHAE.
HARA Partners’ own, Paula Sanders stylized and managed the entire shoot concept with SHAE’s creative director and head designer. Photography was shot by HARA Partners’ Vernon Fong, make-up and hair was provided by the very talented, RaeDawn Johnson, and the beautiful Beth Mondie (from our friends at Fenton Moon – Hi Wendy!) fit perfectly as the SHAE girl.
Shot at Fashion Tower Studios, their Fall 2011 line was conceptualized to shoot on a natural, white-wall background to display SHAE’s contemporary line in a soft, sexy tone. The day was fun as Beth really was giving a lot of life to the shoot… and for that we just had to put some of her funky faces to show you that this girl’s got variety! 🙂
After testing for lighting and make-up and hair was done, Vernon shot the lights out on this super fun day! Wow, Beth and SHAE were made for each other… Just check out some of the final selects.
HARA Partners will also be re-branding SHAE’s logo and website, so to be continued!
